i find very few people “inspirational.” i admire and respect and am impressed by a whole lot of people, but the inspirational ones are like unicorns.
jack white is a fucking unicorn. i feel like he has a passion and intensity that has been dead in music for a long time. maybe in reality he is a pretentious nutcase, but i love it. it actually makes me want to go out and do something — i don’t even know what, but something. anything.
in the beginning of it might get loud he makes an electric guitar out of a plank of wood and a glass bottle and wires and nails, effectively demonstrating that you can make music out of anything (or nothing). and that concept can be applied to fucking everything.
this guy has a voice that could bend a wrench, technically isn’t either a great guitarist or drummer, and certainly isn’t a lyrical genius, but he’s doing what he loves and it works. he’s fucking good at it. he’s hell-bent to shake shit up.
so… can i be him?
