I DON'T SLEEP; I DREAM |
i'd settle for a cup of coffee but you know what i really need my name is devin. i am twenty-three. i am a chick who has the attitude of an angry male hippie and the attention span of a gnat. i live in south jersey. i have amazing taste in music and books and television and art and food and booze and basically everything there is to have good taste in. i would love to be a musician and an artist and an actress and even a dirty hipster but i suck at all those things so i'm just me instead. but that's okay. i like me. we get along most of the time. |

I’m not a dude, I’m a woman.
Robb has choices. For starters, he could’ve handled the Karstarks a whole lot better after Jaime killed one of their people. Robb had no idea Jaime was going to be killed by them, he had no clue what his own people were up to. That is poor leadership. He’s young and over his head, but instead of acknowledging that, the show is putting the situation all on Cat.
The Karstarks were placing their own need for vengeance over the war effort, the value of keeping Jaime hostage. Why is that no one faults them for driving Cat to the choice she made?
sorry. i’ve been using “dude” as a unisex term since i was a kid. he’s a dude, she’s a dude, i’m a dude, you’re a dude, we’re all dudes, etc. kowabunga.
but look.
cat absolutely did what she had to do. the show made that clear. she did the best she could in a shitty situation and in the end she made the right choice.
but in doing so she also had to undermine the authority of her son, a brand new king in the middle of a huge war who is still trying to earn the respect of his men. karstark doesn’t respect him enough to hold back his desire for vengeance, we all know what happens with bolton, people are side-eying him all over the place for his new wife. what would they think if he let his own mother disobey him?
robb has made poor choices — choices that led to this nasty situation — but in this specific circumstance there is no way he could have let his mother’s actions slide without losing a great deal of respect and power at a very crucial time. we don’t know that he doesn’t regret it and feel shitty about it. knowing his character, i think it’s safe to say he does. we’ve only seen him in front of his men so far.
idk i feel like the hate robb is getting over this is absolutely overblown and ridiculous.
