i'd settle for a cup of coffee but you know what i really need my name is devin. i am twenty-three. i am a chick who has the attitude of an angry male hippie and the attention span of a gnat. i live in south jersey. i have amazing taste in music and books and television and art and food and booze and basically everything there is to have good taste in. i would love to be a musician and an artist and an actress and even a dirty hipster but i suck at all those things so i'm just me instead. but that's okay. i like me. we get along most of the time. |

One of the quickest ways to make a Christian stumble when they start talking about a biblical view of marriage is to ask them what the bible’s view on polygamy is. Unless of course they are a Mormon in which case you’ve got a whole other debate to get in to.
Those who grow up in an atheist household are least likely to maintain their beliefs about religion as adults, according to a study by Georgetown University’s Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA).
Only about 30 percent of those who grow up in an atheist household remain atheists as adults. This “retention rate” was the lowest among the 20 separate categories in the study.I honestly find these results very surprising, the entire article is available at the link above.
i actually don’t find this particularly surprising. religious families practically brainwash their children into being religious. of course they’re going to have a higher retention rate than anyone else.
also see how they separated the “atheist” and “no particular religion” categories. “no particular religion” has a higher retention rate too.

I’m sorry but this is not okay.
I don’t appreciate anyone’s life being talked about so flippantly, even if it is your own, no matter how old/developed you were/are.
This isn’t even defending pro-choice, it’s more just disagreeing for the sake of being a dick.
^
a stupid question got a stupid answer.
the debate wouldn’t have gone any further than this even if the pro-choicer had given a serious response. this is just one of the million canned questions they teach you at church hoping for an instant “OH SNAP YOU’RE RIGHT.” if it doesn’t work, they throw another one at you. and then another. and then another. they get worse and worse until they start telling you that women who get abortions are worse than hitler because abortions kill more people than the holocaust ever did.
you learn not to take these questions seriously and save your breath for people who want to talk instead of parrot this crap at you.

yeeeeah. the bible is great like that.
except the gif isn’t accurate because the girl would still mindlessly defend the parts she agrees with while blatantly ignoring the parts that she doesn’t.
